Love Maps

I'm writing a novel with some settings in Asia and, more important to me than the names of places, I wanted a sense of perspective -- where my characters will be in relation to their environment. I bought a globe for the same reason. I knew it, but the map and globe brought it home -- there's a LOT of ocean out there. I'm in awe of the early explorers who had not a clue where they were going and of the pilots trying to fly the Pacific before computers and GPS. I'm really sorry they don't teach geography any more -- It's a big loss.
