A living volcanic area. The park got its name for the pair of massive red tinged cliffs framing a geothermically active interior of steam vents and bubbling springs. The park is home to a profusion of plains, game and birdlife. Walking is allowed, making it ideal for hiking, biking and rock climbing. The towering cliffs, the gorges, rock towers, and volcanoes make it a memorable park. The unique geological formations which include Hobleys volcano, Obsidian caves, Fischers tower, and numerous birds especially raptors upon the cliffs are some of the attractions of this park.
There is rich wildlife such as Maasai Giraffe, Zebra, Thomsons and Grants Gazelle, Warthog, Eland, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard, Impala, Klipspringer, Rock Hyrax, and Chanlers Mountain Reed Buck. More than 100 species of birds have been recorded, including the rare Lammergeyer Vulture, the Cape Eagle Owl, and the elusive Verreauxs Eagle- both eagles nest at the Ol Njorowa gorge.
